Matzah Distribution

  • For 32 years, Beth Chabad of CSL has been distributing hand made Shmurah Matzah to all residents of CSL.

For 32 years, people have waited anxiously to receive this gift of matzah to bless their homes and grace their seder table.

    Times have recently drastically changed.

We are currently in a critical situation fighting a war against an invisible enemy. We must continue to do everything in our power to stop the spread and fight to stay healthy during the pandemic of covid-19.

Despite our challenges, we have arrived at a solution to continue giving the community the  ability to celebrate the holiday with at least one Shmurah Matzah.

We have conferred with medical authorities and leaders in the community of how to distribute this year's matzah gift in the safest way, practicing social distancing and proper hygiene. With extreme caution and care,

If you are a Senior above the age of 65, in Quarantine or have been tested positive, fill out the below form to secure your Matzah through home delivery.

Volunteers will be properly dressed, wearing masks and gloves and will drop of your Matzah in front of your door.

    PLEASE NOTE.

All Matzot have been packed and stored over 14 days ago with proper care in a very sterile environment.

The Matzah is safe for consumption based on the guidelines and precautions instituted by the minister of health.

    What is Shmurah Matzah?

Shmurah means watched, and it is an apt description of this Matzah, the ingredients of which (the flour and water) are watched from the moment of harvesting and drawing.

Shmurah Matzah is round, kneaded and shaped by hand, and is similar to the Matzah baked by the Children of Israel as they left Egypt. It is thus fitting to use Shmurah Matzah on each of the two Seder nights for the Matzah of the Seder plate.

The Zohar states that Matzah is both the "bread of faith" as well as the "bread of healing".

As we prepare for the upcoming holiday of Passover, let us hope that the matzah will give us the faith to carry through these trying times and provide healing to all who need it.
